Within the complex and dynamic process of running clinical trials, there are many moving parts. A study coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring that everything runs smoothly. Our study coordinator, Paula Prins, exemplifies the perfect blend of determination and knowledge, making her an invaluable team member.

Paula’s role

Paula’s journey in the medical field began after completing her intensive care training and research nurse training, where she developed a passion for patient care. Her career path soon led her to new opportunities, and she took on the role of Trial Centre Manager at Janssen-Ortho. Here, she honed her skills in clinical research management. Eager to expand her expertise, Paula transitioned to the academic Erasmus Medical Center as a Clinical Research Nurse, followed by a position as a research nurse in cardiology at Maasstad Ziekenhuis. Each step of her career added to her knowledge and experience, ultimately guiding her to her current role as a study coordinator at Brain Research Center and Progress Clinical Research.

With a wealth of experience in various indication areas such as CNS and cardiology, Paula is invaluable to our team. She has observed that most study participants are genuinely happy to contribute to the research. Their enthusiasm and gratitude are palpable, and it’s something that deeply resonates with Paula. As she often says, “Having a conversation with a trial participant reminds me why I am doing this. This is the reason we all work so hard.” Her interactions with participants not only reinforce the importance of our work but also highlight the human connection at the heart of clinical trials.
